Telegram Bot Setup

Connect your Telegram bot to WeblioHub so visitors can continue conversations in Telegram while your team follows those messages from the dashboard.

    Before you start

    • You need an active WeblioHub account and access to Dashboard → Settings.
    • You need the Telegram app or web.telegram.org to talk with BotFather.
    • If you want to show the Telegram button on your website, the WeblioHub chatbot/widget script should already be installed.

    1. Create a bot with BotFather

Open @BotFather in Telegram and send the command /newbot. BotFather asks for a display name first, then a username ending with bot.

    /newbot
    WeblioHub Support
    webliohub_support_bot

    2. Copy the bot token

After the bot is created, BotFather returns a token. It usually looks like this:

    123456789:AAExampleTokenValueFromBotFather

Treat this token like a password. Anyone with the token can control the bot, so do not publish it in your website source, docs, screenshots, or chat messages.

    3. Connect Telegram in WeblioHub

Go to Dashboard → Settings, open the Chatbot settings and select the Telegram tab. Paste the token into the Bot token field and click Connect Telegram.

WeblioHub verifies the token, stores it encrypted, and prepares the webhook connection. The token is never shown again after it is saved.

    4. Show the Telegram button on your website

After the bot is connected, enable Show on website. Choose the launcher position, size, tooltip and grouping behavior. If your chatbot button uses the same corner, you can group both buttons together.

No second script is required. Telegram uses the WeblioHub widget code already installed on your website.

    5. Test the conversation flow

    • Open your website in a private browser window.
    • Click the Telegram launcher and send a message to your bot.
    • Open Dashboard → Messages and filter by Telegram if needed.
    • Reply from WeblioHub Messages to confirm outbound delivery works.

    6. AI-assisted replies

Telegram conversations can use the same AI support workflow as the website chatbot. For better answers, complete the AI training steps in Chatbot Setup.

    Troubleshooting

    • Token is rejected — copy the full token from BotFather and make sure there are no extra spaces.
    • Button does not appear — check that Show on website is enabled and the WeblioHub widget script is installed on the domain.
    • Messages do not arrive — send a fresh message after connecting the bot, then refresh Dashboard → Messages.
    • Token was exposed — regenerate the token from BotFather and reconnect Telegram in WeblioHub.
